Motor Vehicle Licensing
License Fees Every person residing or living in the city, and every proprietorship, firm, partnership, corporation, and association, having it’s place of business or activities in the city who operates a motor vehicle, car, or truck of any kind within the city, shall pay to the city an annual license fee as follows: (1.) For every motorcycle owned, there shall be a license fee of five dollars ($5.00). (2.) For every passenger car or automobile owned, there shall be imposed a license fee of ten dollars ($10.00). (3.) For every truck that is owned, there shall be a license fee of fifteen dollars ($15.00).
The required license fees designated above are also required of every person, firm, partnership, corporation, and association residing or having it’s place of business outside the city, and owning or operating or causing to be operated any of the above designated motor vehicles upon or over the streets hereof in connection with a business conducted, regular occupation followed within the city limits, or as a means of conveyance to and from a position, job, or labor, for which remuneration is received from such business or occupation located in the city. License (City) Stickers Upon the purchase of each license from the City Clerk, the purchaser shall receive a license sticker which shall be placed in the lower right-hand corner of the windshield of each car or truck, in accordance with the directions on the back of each license sticker decal, and upon a conspicuous place, which is easily accessible, on every motorcycle, and shall not be affixed in any other manner aforesaid. Violation of this section shall constitute a punishable offense. Purchase Deadline All license stickers and/or classification stickers must be purchased and displayed on or before the April 1st deadline, and the stickers shall expire on April 1 of each consecutive following year. Provided, however, that an automatic extension of time, up to and including April 30 of each year is granted to each person, firm, partnership, corporation, and association owning a motor vehicle and subject to the provisions of this article.
